Before I started to look at my Mind, I didn't even know Just Looking was an option. I thought it had to be participation 24/7. "Just look at Mind" was a revelation. And then when I learned you could look at the wellspring of Emotions, and also not participate in what emerges = I was surprised again. Why wasn't I told sooner?
I tell my clients all the time there is Them, their Mind, their Body, their Emotions, their Stories, and it can all be just looked at. You can even, mid-getting-swept-away-by-something (emotional outburst, narrative story and drama making, illness, confusion) stop and re-orient yourself into your Themness, your true You. You can instantly choose something new, some different way of being. It's completely okay to do this.
These are things I wanted to know years before I learned them. These are things I think everyone wants to learn. It's a complete hack to living: realizing what you think you are isn't even you, and you can adjust in the moment to who you want to be.
I want to be not-suffering every moment I am awake. I want life to be challenging + enjoyable. I want to catch myself mid-moment, remind myself that's not me, and backtrack, or new track forwardly. And I want to tell everyone everywhere they are not as solidified as they seem, that they don't need to live a life that feels less than, uninspiring, or downright terrible. They don't need to have that illness, that poverty, that anxiety, that story. They can step into a new way of being at any moment.
Yes, sometimes you may not know how to do that exactly, and so, you may need to figure it out. If that's your fork in the road -- same ol' same ol', or figure it out -- I hope you take the different way.
And if you need some help, like I tell all my clients, I am just an email away.
